Serena with none of our kiddos. That girl makes me laugh like noone else. I always leave our time together feeling understood and happy and appreciated. She is one of those people that make hanging out feel effortless which for me is a big deal.

What is a childhood memory that still haunts you?

Snails in the bed... getting my foot grabbed as I climbed down from the bunk bed... getting the frankenstein bump from running into the monkey bars in 2nd grade.

What parenting tip do you swear by?

ALWAYS, always follow your instinct. You will receive all kinds of advice and read articles, books, blogs, news stories with contrasting opinions. Never do anything that makes your heart ache. You know your children better than anyone else in the world and should always trust your gut. God gives us that mothering instinct for a reason and we should never ignore it. If your gut is conflicted, then you should go with the most current research (if there is some on the topic).

What's your favorite time of day and why?

9pm until I pass out.... blissfully quiet, kids asleep. Ice cream makes this as close to heaven on earth as possible. I've always been a night owl. I feel energized once the son goes down. Yesterday I cleaned our bedroom and vacuumed at 10pm, no kidding! I wish that I could stay up as late as I used to but as sleep deprived as I am... well that's not a good idea!
